Fayetteville PRIDE Social Media Posting Guidelines
These guidelines apply to all posts and comments produced using Official Fayetteville PRIDE accounts, connected accounts or personal accounts purporting to report the official opinion of Fayetteville PRIDE. These guidelines are in addition to any Official Fayetteville PRIDE Social Media Policies and do not supersede or replace another other social media related guidelines or policies. Failure to follow these guidelines can result in punitive action including and not limited to suspension of all Fayetteville PRIDE social media access. In any place this policy is unclear, conflicts with itself, or conflicts with any other official policies of Fayetteville PRIDE, the final authority rests with the Executive Board of Directors. Should any part or parts of these guidelines become unenforceable due to conflict with other policies or state and local laws, only the specific individual guideline in conflict becomes unenforceable and all other guidelines herein remain in full effect.
Social Media Access
• Each member of the Board of Directors shall be granted posting access for Fayetteville PRIDE’s Official social media accounts at Facebook, SnapChat, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
• It is the responsibility of the Social Media Director to assign usernames and passwords to each entitled Board Member, and to restrict access to any account in the cases of resignation or policy breech.
• In absence of a designated Social Media Director, these responsibilities fall to the Historian of the Board of Directors.
• Each member of the Executive Board of Directors shall be granted access to Fayetteville PRIDE’s Official email account.
• Each member of the Executive Board of Directors can utilize one Official Fayetteville PRIDE title account for the purposes of posting to social media from the purview of their titled position. The social media policy for this title account will apply in addition to these social media posting guidelines and any other social media policies or guidelines.
General Posting Guidelines
• When posting on Social Media through Official Fayetteville PRIDE or FayNCPRIDE connected accounts, content must align only with the official stated position of Fayetteville PRIDE to protect the current and future endeavors of the Fayetteville PRIDE brand.
• If a Board Member has an official or direct personal connection to a particular post, topic, person or event, another member must review and post the desired content.
• Posts should always use language that shows respect for individuals and reflects the professional nature and goals of Fayetteville PRIDE.
Social Media Content Fayetteville PRIDE’s social media posts will conceivably fall under one of three areas of content. Should a situation arise that is not covered by one of these three content areas, content must be discussed and approved by the President or Historian of the Board of Directors before posting.
Plan and Produce Social media content related to any events or marketing produced, planned and/or officially sponsored by Fayetteville PRIDE. Plan and Produce items must be regarding an event voted on by the Board of Directors as an official Fayetteville PRIDE event and must follow these guidelines and any other event specific social media rules and restrictions, as voted on by the Board of Directors. Scheduling priority: Highest. When an event that rises to this level is being marketed, most social media content should be geared toward this event. Words associated with this level include but are not limited to: Official, Fayetteville PRIDE’s, FayNCPRIDE’s, Sponsor. Support Social media content related to any events not planned, produced and/or officially sponsored by Fayetteville PRIDE, but that the organization has decided to ally or align with due to similar mission/goals. These alliances must be voted on by the Board of Directors before being publicly addressed. Scheduling priority: High during a supported event. Medium to low at all other times. Words associated with this level include but are not limited to: Support, Represent, Partner. Announce Anything not covered by the Plan and Produce or Support sections, of which we feel the need to notify the Fayetteville PRIDE community. This includes, but is not limited to events happening in the area that we feel members would like to attend and/or a call to action against events that may be politically or personally damaging to Fayetteville PRIDE and its mission. Announcements may be published without a vote of the Board of Directors. Call to Action must be approved by a second person, which must be either the President or the Historian of the Board of Directors. Scheduling priority: High for time sensitive or major events. Low at all other times.
Acceptable Sourcing of Information Use good judgment and apply critical thinking when reviewing an article you intend to post. Confirm all information with two different sources that do not cite each other. When in doubt about any post, confirm with an additional member of the Board of Directors before posting any content. Local news or national news with local implications related to the LGBTQ* community is the best. National news from reputable sources, related to the LGBTQ* community is acceptable. Military connected news regarding the LBGTQ* community is acceptable.
Monetizing Posts Boosting, sponsoring, or otherwise paying money to affect or enhance social media posts shall only be applied to Official Fayetteville PRIDE events. A member of the Executive Board of Directors must approve any Boosting before the expenditure.
Politically Connected Posting Fayetteville PRIDE, due to its intended 501(c)3 status cannot support any political candidate, in any region, at any level. Fayetteville PRIDE can and should comment on legislation, current or pending, that would affect, support or contradict it’s mission and stated purpose. As a means of informing our community about LGBTQ* related political issues, Fayetteville PRIDE will post at least yearly, the NC Equality produced North Carolina Voter’s Guide.

Standing Rule 4: The Bylaws of Fayetteville PRIDE, Article II, section 4: Qualifications, states that “Each Director shall be an individual ... who is a resident of North Carolina...” For the purpose of Fayetteville PRIDE, the definition of “resident” shall include members of the Armed Forces serving on active duty, who has orders specifying a permanent change of station to North Carolina, and their spouses or dependents.
